Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra – Review

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Review

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review:

As the annual ritual unfolds, three new additions are on the horizon: the S24, S24+, and the S24 Ultra. Familiar yet distinct, the design showcases the iconic triple-ring pattern found across Samsung’s device lineup. While the S24 and S24+ boast gracefully curved sides, the S24 Ultra takes cues from previous Note devices and recent S22/S23 Ultras, featuring a more angular aesthetic.

Diverging from the norm, the S24 Ultra flaunts a flatter display, a noteworthy departure from the curved counterparts. The perennial debate between curved and flat displays persists, with each having its proponents – the curved for aesthetics and the flat for practicality, especially concerning screen protectors.

Rumours about Samsung S24 Ultra

Whispers suggest the S24 and S24+ will sport the Armor Aluminum 2.0 frame, while the S24 Ultra might elevate the stakes with a titanium frame, mirroring the move made by the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. All three devices are anticipated to carry the coveted IP68 water and dust resistance rating, available in classic colors like black, gray, violet, and yellow. For the exclusive touch, Samsung.com promises blue, green, and orange variants.

Also, continuing the legacy, the S24 Ultra maintains the inclusion of an enclosed S-Pen, a feature that has become synonymous with Samsung’s Ultra lineup. Display aficionados will note the slight size increase for the S24 and S24+ and the resolution bump to Quad-HD+ for the S24+. Meanwhile, the S24 Ultra holds its ground with the familiar 6.8-inch display.

The performance arena sees a departure from the norm, transitioning from a unified chipset strategy to a split between the Samsung Exynos 2,400 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The S24 Ultra may maintain its allegiance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Storage and RAM allocations diversify, with the S24 reportedly housing eight gigabytes of RAM and storage options of 128 or 256 gigabytes.

On the photographic front, the S24 and S24+ embrace a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto with three times optical zoom. The S24 Ultra steps into the limelight with a whopping 200-megapixel primary camera and tweaks to the periscope zoom camera, opting for a 50-megapixel 5x telephoto. The AI features, including Nightography Zoom, Generative Edit, and Live Translate, add a dash of innovation.

Battery Capacities

Battery capacities paint a varied picture, with the S24 Ultra rumored to stick to the 5,000 milliampere-hour battery from its predecessor. The S24 and S24+, on the other hand, aim for larger batteries. Fast charging is a universal feature, with the S24+ and S24 Ultra leading the pack at up to 45 watts. Wireless charging and reverse wireless charging (PowerShare) complete the ensemble.

In the realm of availability and pricing, insiders hint at an official unpacked event on January 17th, with devices slated to hit global markets on January 26th. Pricing is expected to echo the S23 Series, with potential pre-order perks and trade-in incentives. Stay tuned as we delve into the official coverage once the devices make their grand entrance.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ULTRA RELEASE DATE FORECAST

After a busy 2023, Samsung shows no signs of slowing down this year. with its next product launch set for January 17. There’s no confirmation that this is where the Galaxy S24 lineup will debut, but it’s a very strong possibility. Samsung’s invitation does mention Galaxy AI, which is rumored to be a big part of the S24 release. (More on that later.)

January 17 would be an earlier-than-usual launch date for the Galaxy S lineup, though it’s one that’s been anticipated since last year. Galaxy Unpacked gets underway at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT/6 p.m. GMT on January 17, with an event taking place in San Jose, Calif. Don’t worry — you’ll be able to live stream it, and we’ll be attending in person and reporting on what we see.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S24 ULTRA: WHAT WE WANT TO SEE

Given how thin Galaxy s24 Ultra rumors are at this point, that leaves an awful lot of room for us to fill in the blanks with features we hope to see. After all, as capable a phone as the Galaxy S23 Ultra may be, there are still some areas that Samsung could stand to improve.

New S Pen capabilities: Samsung added S Pen support with the release of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, and by the time the S22 Ultra arrived, it figured out how to include storage for the stylus within the phone’s design. S Pen improvements with the Galaxy S23 Ultra were non-existent, though, as Samsung focused on other areas.

We hope the Galaxy S24 Ultra lavishes more attention on the S Pen, adding support for new capabilities. These could include new S Pen Air Actions or possibly remote control over additional Galaxy S23 Ultra functions.

Faster charging: The Galaxy S23 Ultra remained stuck on 45W charging, even as other Android phones — most notably devices like the OnePlus 11 — let you top off your phone much faster. We’d like to see charging speeds more befitting of a phone with an Ultra name.

No price change: We mentioned this above, but we’re hoping that whatever changes Samsung introduces to the Galaxy S24 Ultra aren’t accompanied by a change in price. That goes for our friends in other parts of the world who did wind up paying more for the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as Samsung adjusted for currency fluctuations.

While Ultra models boast more than their fair share of premium capabilities, $1,199 remains a steep price for a smartphone. Samsung would do well to remember that even the best phones can’t cost so much that they’re out of reach for most shoppers.
